Our Family
My husband and I (Michael and Emily) lived in Northern Utah for 7 years. Michael grew up farming organically in the Blue Creek Valley in Utah. We leased the family’s organic farm for 5 years, and then wanted to find our own place to call home. Together with our two small boys we moved from northern Utah to northern Montana in the spring of 2018. We purchased our home and farmland from the Gordan and Marge Matheson family. The land at the time was being farmed conventionally, and we immediately started to take the steps necessary to transition the entire farm to organic. The process takes three years of organic farming practices to be certified. 2021 was the first year that Deakin farms once again was certified organic. Michael and I are continuously looking for new ideas that we can incorporate into our farming practices. We are commited to the environment, and to the future of our children, and generations to come.

Our History
The original Deakin farm, established by Ed and Leah Deakin in 1929, was located in the Blue Creek Valley of Northern Utah. Ed and Leah Deakin instilled in their children and grandchildren a love for the soil and pride and satisfaction in eating what you grow. The Blue Creek Valley farm was certified organic in 1994. The importance of sustainable organic farming practices have been passed down from Ed Deakin and thrive today in our young children. Since 1994, excluding our 3 year transition period on our new land, we have produced exclusively organic products and remain committed to producing the highest quality organic products available and doing so in a sustainable and environmentally friendly manner.
